The chorus sings literature of all periods and styles, with an
emphasis on lighter, more contemporary and some popular styles.
Regular practice, listening and development of music literacy
are the main activities of this group. Periodic assessments will
take place in small groups, and several written tests will be
given during the year.
Concert Chorus participates in all choral festivals,
competitions, trips and school concerts. Members of all singing
groups join with the Concert Chorus during performances. Several
additional performances may be scheduled in the community during
the year.
No audition is required, only a love of singing and a desire to
become a better choral singer. No sight-singing or music reading
skills are required to join this group.

The
concert choir is a performing ensemble for men and women (SATB).
The choir performs challenging literature from all periods and
styles of vocal music. The focus of the course is to further
develop independent choral singers through more advanced
instruction in vocal technique, sight-singing and tonal memory.
There is a strong emphasis on all aspects of working in an
ensemble
Students in Concert Choir will perform as part of the Concert
Chorus for all major performances. In addition they will perform
several times during the year at PHS, in the community and at
festivals.
Course Requirements: Permission of instructor; usually requires
completion of one year of concert chorus.
