Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that we will be leaving PHS on Saturday at 6:30am for the Berklee Jazz Festival. Due to school cancellations this week we will be rehearsing this Friday during the school day and a quick after-school rehearsal.
Friday, January 30, Period 7 & after school, 2:15-3:00 (rehearse & pack for Saturday's festival)
Here is the information again regarding Berklee:
BERKLEE JAZZ FESTIVAL
Hynes Convention Center
Saturday, January 31, 2014
Departure time from PHS: 6:30am (Be at PHS for 6:15)
Jazz Ensemble performance time: 9:00am
Jazz Combo performance time: 9:55am
Award Ceremony: 5:30pm
The performances are at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. All performances are free and open to the public. Please follow this link for directions to the convention center:

There are many performances that are held that day. Here is a link to the official Berklee Jazz Festival website:

The awards ceremony is at 5:30pm and should be done by 6:30pm. We will leave for PHS after the awards ceremony. Estimated time should be around 9:30-10:00pm. We normally do a dinner stop on the way home as the students will be very hungry. They will need dinner money (Burger King type stop) or they can, again bring their own.
As a reminder, students are asked to wear their uniforms that morning. Students may change after their performance, but keep in mind that we will NOT have access to the bus during the day. Students will have to keep their clothes with them. We do have a "storage" area that they can keep their backpacks and equipment.
As far as lunch that day, students will have the opportunity to eat at the foodcourt connected to the convention center. If they prefer to bring their own food, they can do that also.
I know this is a busy week for us, but it is also a great learning experience as we will see and hear some great jazz bands and receive written and taped critiques from some of the finest musicians that Berklee has to offer.
Please feel free to email me with any questions. Hope to see many of you there at our performances!
Mr. Rausch
