MICROPHONE BASICS

What it boils down to is that you need to know many types of mics exist, but you'll largely only use two. Each may have ways to change the direction of the field of sound they record beyond just pointing it at an instrument or vocalist. You need to know how to set the proper volumes, what the switches on them do, and how to connect them to the rest of your gear. Beyond that, there's a few concepts you should know exist but don't need to memorize them yet. It's easy! Let's cover it all in that same order.
