FINAL PROJECT
For your Final Project you may choose a project of your choice from the projects listed below. Your project needs to demonstrate the different concepts and skills that you learned during this class. Your final project counts as your final exam grade. ALL PROJECTS MUST BE CLEARED BY TEACHER. Here are some ideas for a final project:
1. MUSIC MONTAGE – This will be another project that was already submitted earlier. Students should demonstrate how they can continue to enhance the music & picture sequence so that the FINAL PROJECT version demonstrates advanced techniques that the student has improved on. This project should contain all NEW material (new music, new pictures, new theme).
2. SONG FORM COMPOSITION – This is another project that was already submitted earlier in which the student will demonstrate advanced concepts from the earlier submission. Students who choose this project will follow the song form template, however, they may add additional tracks and not be limited to the 8 measure phrasing. The project should be a complete song that has distinguishable sections. This project should also contain:
1. Color coded tracks
2. Each track should be labeled by instrument and section
3. ALL TRACKS NEED TO BE MASTERED.
3. MOVIE TRAILER/CLIP SEQUENCE – Students who choose this project will demonstrate advanced techniques that have been properly and artistically used. Students may choose their own clip or trailer from youtube. Make sure the clip has “Dialogue and sound effects – NO MUSIC.” Students who choose this should do the following:
1. Isolate the different sections of the trailer/clip by mood, action, speed, etc.
2. Compose music for the different sections listed above, having a central theme connecting the sections.
3. Make sure all dialogue is mastered so that it is clearly heard.
4. RECUT TRAILER – This is similar to the above project. A re-cut trailer, or retrailer is a mashup video that uses footage from a movie or its original trailers to create a completely new context or one different from the original source material. The mashups are parody trailers that derive humor from misrepresenting original films: for instance, a film with a murderous plot is made to look like a comedy, or vice versa.

5. SOUND EFFECTS STORY (Project 9) – This is a project that we did not go over in class but can be used as a final project. For this project you will record a short story or poem. The story that you record will be set to music and sound effects that enhance the different sections and words of your story. A story is provided if you are unable to find one on your own. 6. CREATE A COMMERCIAL – This is a project in which students will record and audio commercial using a product (existing or made-up). Students will score their own audio and text for the project. Microphones will be used to record the narration. Students may have the option of creating a video commercial. This may be done with a partner; in which both will work on the same project.
7. ORIGINAL STUDENT CONCEPT - Create a project with an original concept. You could combine any previous projects into one. This is the most creative approach.
8. PROJECT GUIDE HANDBOOK - See Mr. Rausch for Project Guide handbook. You may choose from projects listed in the book
